"The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn."
Maria Montessori
Our Story
The Montessori School of North Miami was founded in 1999 by Evelyn Lopez-Couto, whose journey as a mother inspired a deeper understanding of how children learn and thrive. When her son was diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia, Evelyn discovered the Montessori method and the profound impact it could have on a child’s confidence, independence, and love of learning.
With a vision to create a place where every child could be seen, respected, and supported, Evelyn opened the school to serve all learners — including neurotypical children and those with diverse learning needs.
Today, our school continues to honor that vision by providing a nurturing Montessori environment where children are encouraged to explore, grow, and develop their unique potential.
